His dad is known worldwide as “The Crocodile Hunter”; a champion of wildlife conservation and now, following in his footsteps, Robert’s skill with wildlife photography is similarly attracting attention from around the globe.
Robert’s adventures travelling the world as a Wildlife Warrior with his family has taken him to many incredible places where he captures his surroundings through photography.
“Photography is my biggest passion and it is a great way to help people connect with our natural world, so that they will want to help save it. Wildlife conservation and photography go hand-in-hand as one photo can showcase an individual animal and tell a story,” said Robert.
In 2016, Robert’s talents earned him the junior runner-up title in the Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of Year competition for his photo of a crocodile's 'toothy grin.' He has also won the Wondai Regional Art Gallery People’s Choice Award and been shortlisted twice in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition.
“I was inspired by my dad, who was also a great photographer and always carried a camera with him on his travels, photographing some amazing wildlife. Growing up right in the middle of Australia Zoo with incredible animals in my backyard has helped drive my fascination of wildlife and nature, so when I started using a camera it allowed me to capture the beauty of our natural world, which I can then share with others,” said Robert.
Robert's photography portfolio is featured on robertirwinphotos.com and includes striking images of wildlife, landscapes and architecture.
