Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors are gearing up to welcome hundreds of guests to the 11th Annual Steve Irwin Gala Dinner on November 18 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) in honour of the greatest Wildlife Warrior that ever lived.
Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell will greet guests and attending VIPs before the event kicks off hosted by Dan Merrett, former Brisbane Lions defender and his wife, Sarah. Stunning native and exotic wildlife will meet the crowd during the cocktail hour before the gala, greeting guests to Wildlife Warrior’s major annual fundraising event.
The Steve Irwin Gala Dinner sees individuals and organisations awarded for their special contributions to conservation including the ‘Commitment to Conservation’ title which was won last year by Lady Elliot Island. The ‘Visionary Wildlife Warrior Award’ will also be announced recognising young people for their conservation efforts both in Australia and internationally.
Having inspired millions around the world to play a part in conserving our wildlife and wild places, Steve’s legacy lives on through Australia Zoo, Wildlife Warriors and his dedicated family.
Proceeds from the Steve Irwin Gala Dinner will be donated directly towards Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors’ vital conservation projects, including the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, which in the last 12 years has treated almost 72,000 patients. Other projects include crocodile research in Cape York which was pioneered by Steve, grey nurse shark research, cheetah and rhino protection in Africa in partnership with Fauna and Flora International and anti-poaching projects for Sumatran tigers.
